One of the highlights of the BET Hip Hop Awards 2020 on Tuesday night was a cypher from Brandy, Erykah Badu, Teyana Taylor and H.E.R. who delivered a ladies cypher.
And no, they did not sing in their segment. In fact, the bright ladies of the R&B genre offered a rap cypher, offering plenty of bars to uplift fellow black women. “Know you beautiful and Black / go be proud / always trust in god, your higher self / take that vow / and if they say the sky is the limit then buy a cloud / and if they can’t treat you like an equal/ they not allowed,” Brandy rapped.
The instrumental they chose for the performance was Brandy’s 1994 classic ‘I Wanna Be Down.’ Watch it below.
