We’re back with another weekly-edition of the Saturday Spotlight where we are finding tomorrow’s stars and giving some media coverage to artists who otherwise find it hard to reach outlets. Rappers, producers, singers, or jacks of all trades — this is your time to shine, your opportunity towards upping your game. Introducing the winners of this week below.
Remember that you can submit music to us for Saturday Spotlight on this link.
Jasmine J Walker
Jasmine J talks about the evils of the blue hundreds on her latest single, ‘Money’. The Brooklyn-born artist exhibits a conversational tone, breaking down the morals surrounding money, and the extent people are willing to go to obtain it. She skillfully maneuvers the looping sample on the production, taking charge of the track with her powerful presence that resonates throughout her verses. Jasmine isn’t like other acts emerging out of the Drill-heavy Brooklyn scene, she’s bringing it back to the soul and the artistry of rhyme schemes and storytelling. Check out her track below:
LVTee
On the flip side, UK rapper LVTee has a fine understanding that money is universal. On his latest single, ‘Green Light’ featuring T2, LVTee provides more than your typical fanfare party raps, he’s making music meant to be replayed until your phone dies. The key is his ability to nonchalantly create endorphin-releasing melodies, which makes each verse a fun-fueled delight. His melodies are definitely his strongest point and we think he can go a long way. Check out the track below:
