Another edition of Saturday Spotlight is here. Each week we review submissions from all over the globe, picking the best out of the batch to highlight at the end of the week. The talent is beaming with potential. Influences range from old school to modern twists, and the results are often surprising, to say the least. If you feel you have what it takes, submit your music and show the world what’s up.
All upcoming artists can submit music to us for Saturday Spotlight on this link.
TheYungJB
TheYungJB is the definition of personality. His track, “Everything Good” is a perfect example of using what’s at your disposal and creating something magnificent. JB’s cadence brings you back to the days of Carti’s Die Lit: the words are swift in delivery, his vocals spring off the next, and the production minimalist enough to keep the focus on the artist. Smoking an unlit cigarette with an unopened bottle, with deflated balloons in the background makes the video for “Everything Good” worth a view. Check out his single below:
Rob Law
Rob Law spits verses as if his throat is lined with razor blades. His voice has a natural rasp, adding instant friction between his vocals and his choice of production. On “Panoramic View” his jagged delivery serrates through the verses. The track has a lingering grittiness that can be heard underneath the squealing guitars in the background. The music is meant to be blasted in your hood at the end of a day of making ends meet. For guys like Rob Law, this is where you want to be. Check out his latest single below:
