Welcome back to another edition of our Saturday Spotlight series. Each week we review submissions from all over the globe, picking the best out of the batch to highlight at the end of the week. If you’re an aspiring rapper, a producer wanting to create a buzz, or a singer looking to expose their talent, the Saturday Spotlight is dedicated to discovering the next star.
Whether it’s your latest single or a new beat you made, all upcoming artists can submit music to us for Saturday Spotlight on this link.
Carla G
Carla G knows how to throw a party. On her latest single, “Out of Water,” the bass hits harder than haymakers with a 5-key piano melody providing the bounce. Carla reps Chicago putting on for her city with the music keeping the biggest traits from the area. It’s hard-hitting, fun, and has enough threatening wordplay to keep you on your toes. She delivers her bars reminiscent to Chief Keef, confident and provocative. Check out the track below:
Also peep the music video for her other single ‘Waffle House’ below.
Q Prodigal
Q Prodigal raps with a high octane stream of consciousness. His voice cracks and fluctuates in pitch over lofi muffled snares and warped guitar strums on his single, “Silhouettes.” Q comes from the budding scene in Buffalo where acts like Griselda are the poster boys. Q is cut from a similar cloth, emphasizing lyricism and his experiences in the streets. Check out the track below:

Through our artist discovery platform Saturday Spotlight, we have discovered some amazing talent in the past including Russ, Ty Dolla Sign, Mez, IDK, Victoria Monét and Trap Beckham to name just a few. In most cases, coverage on HHNM was their first look among media outlets. Find the submission guidelines here.
