Welcome back to another edition of Saturday Spotlight. Each week we review submissions from all over the globe, picking the best out of the batch to highlight at the end of the week. If you’re an aspiring rapper, a producer wanting to create a buzz, or a singer looking to expose their talent, Saturday Spotlight is dedicated to discovering the next star. This week, we received over 45 submissions — below are the two picks!
Whether it’s your latest single or a new beat you made, all upcoming artists can submit music to us for Saturday Spotlight on this link.
Rapstar Sandy
Rapstar Sandy has blessed the end of summer with a fun and bouncy single, ‘What’s Goody’. The 24 year old artist from the UK is a refreshing sound from the trap-style of female rap being commonplace in the indie hip hop scene. With catchy hooks, verses, and punchy bars layered with double entendres and wordplay, Rapstar Sandy is definitely an artist to watch — and dance to till the end of this summer and summers to come.

Nevardo
24 year old rap artist Nevardo hailing from Stonebridge London, UK comes from a city that is now heavily known worldwide for its grime, garage, and afrobeats scene — but Nevardo’s music comes with vibes more reminiscent of artists like Dave. A little heavier, a little more reflective. With his latest track ‘Topboy on the Roof’, Nevardo explores the vices of ego and materialism. Through thoughtful bars and a steady but engaging flow, the young talent draws listeners into his personal struggle between wanting to be the ‘topboy’, a UK slang term for ‘boss’ or ‘kingpin’, and wanting to remain grounded, focused, and humble.
The title ‘Topboy on the Roof’ is poetically interesting, literally visualising the image of a ‘topboy’ – a man at the top, in this case the roof – but also suggests something more sinister: the higher the rise, the longer the fall.

Through our artist discovery platform Saturday Spotlight, we have discovered some amazing talent in the past including Russ, Ty Dolla Sign, Mez, IDK, Victoria Monét and Trap Beckham to name just a few. In most cases, coverage on HHNM was their first look among media outlets. Find the submission guidelines here.
