Gervonta “Tank” Davis handed his American compatriot “King” Ryan Garcia the first defeat of his career with a big body shot in the seventh round of their marquee fight in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night (April 22).
The 28-year-old Davis from Baltimore, Maryland, has a 29-0 record with 27 knockouts after winning five world titles in the super-featherweight, lightweight, and super-lightweight divisions.
With a powerful left overhand counterpunch in the second round on Saturday night, Davis knocked out the 24-year-old Garcia. Davis used a moving Garcia to his advantage and delivered a wonderfully timed shot to Garcia’s ribs for the quick knockout.
“It was a good shot,” Davis said after the fight. “I thought he was going to get up. I was looking at him, trying to tell him ‘get up.’ “And he just shook his head.”
None other than Jay-Z narrated the video package for Tank which was shot by Tahliq for GTD Promo/Victor Victor. Watch the clip with Hov’s inspiring words below.

The fight also attracted a star-studded audience which included former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in attendance at the sold-out T-Mobile Arena. “I am the face of boxing,” Davis declared after the fight. “I just saw Rihanna perform at the Super Bowl, and I was like that was going to be me one day, and here we are,” he said.
