The Hip-Hop community is currently loving the Birthday Blizzard ’26 EP that J. Cole dropped off right before he turned 41 yesterday. The freestyles have been ringing off for a couple of days, with fans dissecting lines and only getting even more excited for The Fall-Off, which of course drops a week from now.
Just minutes ago, Cole took to Instagram to share a second cover for the album, while sharing a bit of the inspiration behind it. He reveals that the current picture of his old set up with his ASR X Pro is indeed one of the covers, but since the album is a double-disc, he wanted a cover with his face on it, that reflected where he was at the time of release.
What’s even more interesting is that he reveals that the album only became a double-album after being inspired after the events of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, where at the 2024 Dreamville Fest, he infamously bowed out due to not feeling comfortable with releasing ‘7 Minute Drill‘. He says the concept expanded with this new inspiration, which is what turned it into a two-parter.
