Stove God Cooks is an exceptional artist, and according to his own account, someone at a label he doesnโt want to be at. The Babygrande Records signee recently took to spilling his heart out on the Frequency podcast with Quincy Harris, and detailed his qualms about being at the label.
According to him, itโs not like heโs in a bad deal per se; it has more to do with the fact that he doesnโt like the dynamic he has with the management and other players involved. Previously, Stove God had put out a public call to Jay-Z, needing assistance to get out of a deal he doesnโt want to be in. On his IG story, he once posted โYo Hov, get me out this sh*t,โ owing to Jay-Z credibility in helping out artists in distress.
After endless speculation, we finally get to the bottom of Stove God Cooks/Babygrande situation. He tried to buy himself out of the deal by returning the $500k they gave him, but they declined & told him they needed $2.5 million. Which is insane. https://t.co/KAYtxK3nu1 pic.twitter.com/Hyz6Vzl45x

While details are unclear still, it seems as though Jay-Z did end up calling him. Clearly, not much came out of it. Although Stove God Cooks did mention that he even fired his previous management for even bringing him the deal.
Further along in the interview, Stove God Cooks also spoke on the fact that he did try to make an amicable exit from his label, even putting up the USD 500K he received back on the table. According to him, that was no longer an option because they instead asked him to pay USD 2.5 million. Sounds like the artist is stuck between a rock and a hard place โ what would you do?
