Tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards were dedicated to Rihanna as she became the recipient of the special Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Rihanna took over the stage tonight with mini sets throughout the show which were split into five-minute segments (watch her full set here). RiRi made use of the opportunity to showcase hits of all kinds from her illustrious career, before she was presented with the award by her rumored lover Drake.
“we love the woman who hasn’t changed since day one,” was one of the praises Drizzy bestowed before handing over the award which came with a kiss and a hug. “This is such an amazing moment in my career,” Rihanna told the audience after being presented with the award. “My success started as my dream. And now it’s not my own, its my family’s, my fans, women, black women … so many people.”
