This is epic. NPR‘s Tiny Desk Concert series are intimate video series recorded at the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen but this time, they decided to do something different.
White House recently held an event called South by South Lawn, a day-long festival filled with innovators and creators from the worlds of technology, art, music and more. Common was one of the invitees who performed a live intimate set at the White House’s library. Among those assisting him were singer Bilal plus musicians Robert Glasper, Derrick Hodge and others.
Common performed the classic ‘I Used To Love H.E.R.’ and also debuted three new songs — ‘Letter To The Free’, ‘The Day The Women Took Over’ and ‘Little Chicago Boy’. Common is set to release his new album Black America Again in November. Watch the beautiful performance below.
