A Tribe Called Quest surprised everyone last month when they announced that they will release their final album We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, featuring all new music, in November. The hype among Tribe’s dedicated fan base went out the roof but these days, hype often does not match sales.
But that will not hold true in this case. HDD is projecting that the comeback album from the legendary crew will top the charts with ease next week, with approximately 73-83k units including streams (60-70k pure sales). This is particularly big as this is their first album in 18 years and as we know, it’s not easy in today’s fickle marketĀ to hit the 6 figure mark in sales.
We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service features 16 tracks in total with guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Busta Rhymes, Anderson .Paak, Consequence and Talib Kweli. Buy on iTunes here.
UPDATE (Nov. 16): The projections have now been updated to 124-129k which is certainly a huge jump. Positive reviews across the board and holiday season seems to have fueled the rise.
