Every now and then, you come across an artist you’ve never heard of before but who bowls you over with the music.
That’s what happened when I pressed play on Tenacity and D.R.U.G.S. Beats’ joint album Discussions. I was inclined towards giving it a shot because the album is fully produced by D.R.U.G.S. Beats (50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Ludacris) who is one of my favorite beat smiths. If you aren’t aware, we did an entire beat tape with the talented producer from North Carolina back in 2013.
Since then, DRUGS has gained many new fans thanks to his production on Dr. Dre’s Compton album (‘Darkside/Gone’). Tanacity is a Los Angeles based Rapper / Engineer who showcases his immense talent over the 13 tracks on Discussions. “It’s very rare to hear music on popular radio that openly discusses bigotry, hate, prejudice, or even domestic abuse,” says Tenacity. “But I think it’s important to bring attention to these topics through music, especially since much of what this album centers upon is relatable – my message will resonate deeply with someone, somewhere in the world. My mission is to make people stop, listen to the lyrics, and think. Hopefully this creates continued discourse that goes beyond just listening to this album.”
Stream the album below via bandcamp or Apple Music. You won’t regret it.
