Kevin Gates is one of those artists with a solid fanbase that always surprises you with commercial performance of his releases.
Gates released Luca Brasi 3 last week, his first proper project since getting out of jail earlier this year. The retail mixtape features 18 songs in total with no guest appearances and arrived with hardly any promotion. But HDD projects that it is set to move 73-78k copies in the first week, which will be more than enough for a top 5 spot on the Billboard 200 this week, behind Lil Wayne and Logic. About 18-20k out of those will come from pure sales.
These are solid numbers considering it’s not even a studio album and did not have any major label backing. A couple of days ago, he dropped a music video for his song ‘Adding Up’.
