This is a nice little surprise. Joell Ortiz and KXNG Crooked aka Crooked I have announced a joint project by the name of H.A.R.D. (Housing Authority Rap District).
The former Slaughterhouse members have also unveiled the first single, the title track which is produced by the legendary duo, Heatmakerz. This sounds good indeed — listen below.
“It felt great to catch up with my bro and chop it up! We’re like long lost cousins. Crook and I grew up 2800 miles apart under the same conditions. Poverty, struggle, injustice, etc” Joell said to Complex. “Whenever we get together we have rap discussions and world talks that almost always turn into legendary childhood stories. This time was no different, except, this time we ended up in the vocal booth. This is H.A.R.D. (Housing Authority Rap District). Enjoy!!!”
“I’m big on universal laws. Masters attract masters. The universe put me and Joell on the first Freshman cover of XXL magazine together standing side by side. We were strangers before that moment who somehow ended up in the same rap group months later” Crooked added. “All of this shit was meant to happen. 2020 has been rough for a lot of people so I’m glad we can bless the culture with high art. One of my favorite things about this project is the fact that I got to hangout with Fred The Godson during the creative process. I don’t think Joell would mind me speaking for him when I say this project is dedicated to the loving memory of Fred. Hope y’all f*ck with it.”
Joell & Crooked’s H.A.R.D. also features production from illMind, Erick Sermon, Apollo Brown, Heatmakerz & J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and will be released on May 29th via Mello Music Group.
