Welcome back to another edition of Saturday Spotlight. Each week we review submissions from all over the globe, picking the best out of the batch to highlight at the end of the week. If you’re an aspiring rapper, a producer wanting to create a buzz, or a singer looking to expose their talent, Saturday Spotlight is dedicated to discovering the next star. This week, we received over 50 submissions, below are the two picks!
Whether it’s your latest single or a new beat you made, all upcoming artists can submit music to us for Saturday Spotlight on this link.
Mac Foreign
On ‘God Works’ Hawaiin artist Mac Foreign demonstrates not only lyrical prowess and true hip hop heart — but faith, culture, family, and perseverance. In this moving track, Mac Foreign’s flow and bars reflect his love for the craft and his determination to succeed no matter the cost. He gets poetically personal, detailing the struggles of his past life in juxtaposition with his dreams and goals for the future: “Never thought I was better just knew what I deserved/Been through hell and back, we was sleeping in the dirt”, is just one example of how Mac Foreign paints a picture of who he is and where he comes from, with class, confidence, and skill. The accompanying visuals are also executed with elegance and style, showing Mac Foreign in his cultural element, exuding a calm self-assurance — refreshing in the overly saturated slew of videos overdosing on pretentious masochism and bravado.

Kid Riz
Hailing from Montreal, Canada and based in Miami, Florida; Kid Riz is an artist who personifies seductive melodies and mysterious darkness. His latest single, “Nightmares”, produced by Lesean, explores the labyrinth of an intense love story, one that is intertwined with obsession, fear and lust. Tapping into dark RnB reminiscent of artists like The Weeknd, Kid Riz’s lyricism and smooth vocals take the listener on a trip into their shadow self. Kid Riz’s flow is well-crafted, slow at the perfect pace and fast in all the right places. As a songwriter, the artist has a potential that surely makes him one to watch. The visuals are a beautiful reflection of the lyrics, portraying Kid Riz in dark, surrealist scenes — a dark room lit only with pink and blue, the sea at sunset, in a dark car, backdropped by city lights.
