If you’re an aspiring rapper, a producer wanting to create a buzz, or a singer looking to expose their talent, Saturday Spotlight is dedicated to discovering the next star. Rapper/songwriter JayRoddy is an artist rising from the city of Boston, Massachusetts, boasting versatile flows, a distinct devil-may-care voice, and a sharp pen that oscillates between commercial value and unique witticism. His latest single ‘Summer Luv’, featuring ELLIS!, is JayRoddy’s personal contribution to this summer’s catalogue of fun dancehall infused records. Floating effortlessly in flow and vocal delivery, the cherry on top is punchline bars like ‘That’s my little spicy mamacita, she try to act like she isn’t a diva/And she got that aura just like Rita’, with a clever nod to Rita Ora. ELLIS! completes the vibes full circle with a fun and catchy hook that offsets JayRoddy’s melody smoothly.

J3X

Jean Blanca, Jodie Jay, and Junie — otherwise known as J3X — are coming from Virginia, USA as a force to be reckoned with. Demonstrating a range of talent, from singing and songwriting, to rapping, the three sisters (yes, sisters!) have once again combined their unique voices for their latest single ‘Outside’, featuring LightSkinKeisha. The track acts as an anthem for those who refuse to be tied down by subpar partners, insisting on freedom and empowerment just in time for the summer. ‘Outside’ kicks off with bars as bold and illustrious as their deliverer, LightSkinKeisha, followed by stunning melodies, harmonies, and a rap verse from J3X. As if the track isn’t vibey enough, it comes complete with a fun music video set on a private pool, featuring fun performances and choreography from the rising girl group.
