Rapper JID, often deemed overlooked yet critically acclaimed for his lyrical ability, is back with a new freestyle. Titled ‘32 (Freestyle),’ the track is on brand for the Atlanta rapper who releases a freestyle each year.
With this one, JID has made a bold move and hopped on a Playboi Carti instrumental. The beat in question is from Carti’s recent album, MUSIC, which has left fans begging for Baby Boi.
Now, this isn’t typically the kind of instrumental you’d think JID would pick, being a lyrical rapper and all — but he has. In doing so, he has made a clear statement that he will not be boxed into a box or a singular sound.
Carti fans on X are taking time to digest this move at the moment regardless, but perhaps it will grow on them. On the other hand, the JID fanbase is thrilled for this moment in the rollout for his own album, God Does Like Ugly. What do you think?
