Sony Music is preparing to debut a streaming iTunes competitor called Music Unlimited powered by Qrirocity in the United States very soon. And according to Bloomberg, the plan is to release the service in nine more countries before the end of 2011.
Music Unlimited which has more than 6 million songs, lets Sony Music Entertainment with partners Universal Music Group, EMI Music and Warner Music Group sell directly to customers, giving them increased control over revenue as the industry battles piracy and declining CD sales. The service will also offer streaming SD, HD and 3D movie rentals that will come with a 30-day watch window and will be available on multiple devices including PlayStation 3, Blu-ray players, Bravia televisions, PCs and Google’s Android OS with a subscription cost $3.99 per month.
As of now, the service is only available in the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Keep CDs and Vinyls alive!
