Miss Mary decided to do a heart-felt ballad for the soundtrack to Lee Daniels’ film Precious. Word is that it is a strong contender for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category this time. And guess what, this song has replaced Mariah Carey’s ‘100%’ from the film. Oh kay.
“My song ‘I Can See in Color’ is because when I was depressed and thought I’m going crazy back in those bad days, I couldn’t see color. Couldn’t see anything rosy. Then . . . now . . . things turned colorful for me.
“Took me no time to write. First I was only freestyling . . . just a couple of lines . . . and then it all came. My whole life came about.”
