Shawty Lo Dies In Crash in Atlanta

Some sad news is coming in at this hour.

Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo lost his life in a car crash early this morning in Atlanta. He was 40 years old. After some initial confusion which said it was a hit & run, it has now been confirmed that the rapper passed away due to a fiery car accident in South Fulton County. His real name was Carlos Walker.

Fulton County police have told news channels that the crash happened around 2:20 a.m. when the 2016 Audi crashed over a guardrail, hit several trees and caught fire at the Cascade Road exit. Two other people in the car were injured and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shawty Lo’s Twitter account has put out a statement confirming the death as well:

My brother has passed he is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart , and his music will live on Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead

Shawty Lo was best known for creating hits with his group D4L and later as a solo act when he hit the world with ‘Dey Know‘. He made news in 2011 when he signed a multi million dollar deal with G-Unit Records. No music came out of the deal but in 2013, he raised eyebrows yet again when Oxygen network announced plans for a special about his blended family, which includes 11 children with 10 women. The show was scrapped after various online protests about the show.
