The Defiant Ones, the HBO documentary based on the success story of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine premiered earlier tonight (July 9) to a positive response from fans. The Allen Hughes directed, four part series gives us an inside look at the partnership between the unlikely pair who charted unparalleled success on Aftermath Records, discovering Eminem, collaborating on Beats Electronics and then eventually selling that brand to Apple.
The documentary also features an unexpected new song from Dre himself called ‘Gunfiyah’. This is the first proper song we have heard from the super producer-rapper since his Compton album back in 2015. Is this a sign for more Dre music coming our way soon? Is this just a throwaway tune he decided to release? We have no clue yet but you can press play below and tell us what you think.
