UPDATE: The final numbers are in. The project has sold 340k in the first week (379k including streams) according to Hitsdailydouble. The official soundscan numbers will be out tomorrow but won’t be too different. Mac Miller’s GO:OD AM is set to debut at #3 on Billboard 200 with 78k.
Previous story:
Drake and Future’s collaborative mixtape/album/project What A Time To Be Alive has been the major talking point in Hip-Hop this month.
The project (yeah, it’s neither a mixtape nor an album we think) debuted on Apple Music yesterday to much fanfare after Drake played it back to back on his OVO Sound radio show on Beats1.
It will be exclusively available on Apple Music/iTunes till Friday before it hits other streaming services like Spotify. Industry insiders predicted the album to move 500k copies in the first week but according to the projections which are based on first day sales & streaming numbers, WATTBA is expected to move 340k–360k first week (380k–400k with streams), considerably less than anticipated by most. However, there is a chance these numbers could increase as we progress in the week.
Mac Miller was the other debut this week. His album GO:OD AM is still projected to move 70-80k (75-85k SPS) copies in the first 7 days.
