December 11 saw two major releases in R&B — August Alsina’s This Thing Called Life and R. Kelly’s The Buffet.
The NOLA singer’s second album on Def Jam Records is expected to 30-35k copies in the first week (35-40k SPS) which is considerably less than what his first album Testimony did last year. That album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, with first week sales of 67k.
R&B legend R. Kelly’s 13th studio album The Buffet is expected to do even slightly lower with 28-33k (32-37k SPS). In comparison, Kellz’ album Black Panties which released in December 2013. managed to sell 133k in the first seven days.
