UPDATE: It was decided in court earlier today that Meek did in fact violate his probation and court proceedings will commence in February.
Meek Mill could be facing possible jail time again over violation of his ongoing probation.
The rapper is on probation from a drug and gun conviction back in 2009 and according to court documents, he was required to obtain a travel voucher from authorities before leaving Philly. The judge has now ordered Meek to appear in court Thursday morning, for a probation violation over his travel.
TMZ mentions that the trip in question could be his visit to the AMAs on November 22nd with girlfriend Nicki Minaj.
Meek has addressed the situation on his Instagram, mentioning that it might be his “last post”:
“I’m actually fighting for my life and freedom … Something I’ve been going thru from a case I caught at 19 years old and been on probation since… I am 28 now … It’s funny to see people on the internet laughing and joking about me and my family going thru these things, it’s just shows me where the world is at nowadays! But if you are for me prayers up and wish me the best! Thank you to everybody that ever supported and I will continue to b great! If this is my last post know I will continue to remain strong and grow to b a better man and set a example for every minority with a dream that anything is possible! Trials and tribulations and chances makes chances & never lose faith! No matter how things go. PRAYERS UP!!”
UPDATE: The court heard the case today, December 10th in Philly but Meek would have to wait until December 17 when it will reconvene since they ran out of time today.
The notable thing is that Nicki Minaj was one of the main people who testified in favor of her boyfriend. She told the judge that Meek was occasionally “irresponsible” but working on becoming, “a ‘quote-unquote adult.’ ”
“He never purposefully goes against rules,” she told the court. “He absolutely wants to make this a smooth transition.”
Prosecutor Noel DeSantis opened Thursday’s hearing by detailing some of Williams’ travails, including bringing out thousands of fans to a video shoot in North Philly recently and also the incident where he was briefly stopped at the Canadian border while entering the country in August.
DeSantis dropped a bomb in the court when she said that angry fans of Drake, who dissed Meek with his now Grammy nominated song ‘Back To Back’ “blew up” DeSantis’s phone, begging her to arrest the rapper.
According to Philly.com, Meek said nothing during the hearing but was seen wiping his eyes with a tissue at one point.
