Reebok recently united with its brand ambassador Kendrick Lamar and leading UK creative talent to celebrate the brand’s most influential sneaker, the Reebok Classic Leather. They did a fashion event in London at the legendary Tate Modern museum, followed by a similar stop in Manchester where K. Dot spoke to the youth and did a performance for an intimate audience. You can watch a recap of the events in the video below.
While there, Kendrick sat down with The Coveteur to speak on his collaboration with Reebok, what fashion means to him, his simple style, his inputs in the design process of the brand and more. While calling Lil Wayne an influence, he termed him “the greatest” for his music and contribution to the culture.
“Yeah, man, we was heavy. That’s a real story like, we was just huge, still to this day, huge Lil Wayne fans. Lil Wayne is the greatest. Not only because of his music but also because of the culture he put behind it. It was a big part of what he was talking about, so we always hold Lil Wayne in high regards. Juvenile as well. And yeah, it’s the impact of them man. To be a part of it the same way he was a part of it years later is just a great feeling.”
Lil Wayne has acknowledged the receipt by calling K. Dot a real one:
