As expected, Drake’s brand new album VIEWS (formerly known as Views From The 6) is expected to debut at #1 on the charts next week with huge numbers.
HDD is reporting that the album (see booklet & production credits here) is currently projected to sell 800-850k in pure sales but with streams included, the figure is expected to touch 1 million which will mean Platinum status straight away. Drake’s last studio album Nothing Was the Same also debuted at #1 with 658k sold in the first week.

Last night at a private listening party in Toronto, Drake said he got the message that they sold about 600k copies in the first night itself:

Drake is also expected to break Justin Bieber and Beyonce’s (who did it just yesterday) record of over 100 million streams in a week with VIEWS. The album was released as an Apple Music exclusive on Thursday night with Pandora being the only other streaming service having rights to the album. It is expected to remain like this until Friday when it impacts other retailers. The CD edition, already up for pre-order on Amazon, will be available on May 6th.
UPDATE: The projections have now increased to 1 million for pure sales and 1.2 million with streams included. This means he’s set to move twice as many copies as Beyonce did in her first week.
UPDATE: Drake has already sold 730k copies of the album so far while the total streaming in U.S. alone has topped 150 million. Here’s a breakdown via HDD:
Overnight: 200k
Day 1 (4/28): 375k
Day 2 (4/29): 100k
Day 3 (4/30) 55k
TOTAL through Sunday: 730k
