Yup, it’s happening — A Tribe Called Quest are releasing a new album on November 11th.
Earlier this year, L.A. Reid teased about a Tribe album being in the works but we haven’t had any concrete info on it. But today, Q-Tip himself has taken to Facebook to announce the major news. In the note, Tip talks about the group’s performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon late last year and how they collectively got back in the studio to record new music straight after. It was their first performance in 18 years. But Phife Dawg unfortunately passed away a few months later in March this year, derailing their grand plans.
However, the group is going ahead with the release of the new music and Q-Tip notes that it will not contain any old verses from the late rapper. He also mentions that Busta Rhymes and Consequence had a helping hand in the album, which will hit stores November 11th via Epic Records. We can’t wait.
