Following the footsteps of Drake, Future, Travis Scott and others, Frank Ocean is the latest artist to get his own radio show on Beats 1.
Beats 1 made the surprise (oh Frank leaves those, doesn’t he) announcement just minutes ago and you can listen to the show right now on this link. The singer released his latest albums Blonde and Endless as Apple Music exclusives last year. Last night, he appeared on Calvin Harris’ new single ‘Slide’ alongside Migos which you can listen here.

UPDATE: So the unexpected happened out of no where. Jay Z popped up during the show for a brief period. In a short conversation with the singer, he spoke on the modern technology today and how Hip-Hop has spread worldwide. “I think with all the technology these days, it’s a more efficient way to get music out.” He continued, “back in the day it used to be specific Hip Hop clubs, now every club is a Hip Hop club.”
Hov appearing on an Apple Music show is surprising since he’s the owner of TIDAL, which is in direct competition with Tim Cook’s company.
UPDATE 2: Jay Z just popped up again and here’s the full interview we managed to record (listen to full show on Apple Music here):
Here’s an except:
“Itâs unfortunate because with, you know, technology and everything moving forward,it should be a better way that the music, the musicians, radio, and these things that are supposed to be instruments for the arts, should exist. And it shouldnât be about advertisement. And it shouldnât be aboutâso the more times, you know, someone like yourself can bypass that, itâs better for the arts. And itâs better for the audience âcause you have to have, like, a level of discipline and just a belief to put music out in this place where not everyone can. You know, people like, they wanna shoot for that, and then theyâre making music thatâs not really conditioned to who they are so they can reach a certain platform.”
