More than 90 people were hospitalized during a concert featuring Chance the Rapper last night (Friday) in Hartford, Connecticut. The Chicago rapper was headlining the Hot 93.7 Hot Jam concert at Xfinity Theatre in the city. Other performers at the event included Kyle, PnB Rock and ANoyd.
Police authorities tell Associated Press that many were taken to hospitals for excessive drinking. Most people attending the concert in their late teens and early 20s were below the legal drinking age. Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley said tailgating, partying and excessive alcohol consumption was “extremely prevalent” which led to several arrests. About 90 people suffering from “severe intoxication” were taken to hospitals.
Most of those charged were issued a summons to appear in court. The concert organizers or Chance are yet to make a statement.
