Cardi B has done it. Her breakout hit ‘Bodak Yellow’ is now the number 1 song in the country.
Last week, Cardi B’s single remained at the number 2 on the chart, just behind Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’. With that, for the first time since 2014, two women occupied the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100. There were many debates as to who would rule the chart this week as ‘Bodak Yellow”s popularity continued to soar.
‘Bodak Yellow’ is now also number 1 on Rhythmic radio, rising 3-1 with 570 spins up. Hot 100 number 1 this week? Let’s see.

With this rare accomplishment, Cardi B joins Lauryn Hill as the only women to top the chart with a solo Hip-Hop song. Lauryn Hill’s single ‘That Thing‘ was the last to do it back in 1998. There were reportedly some dirty tactics adopted in the last few days from Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj’s fanbases to stream other songs in hopes that Cardi wouldn’t do it but she prevailed regardless.
Congrats! Here’s to another one.
