Post Malone’s single ‘Rockstar‘ featuring 21 Savage has been an instant hit. It was projected to do well but not many thought the rise will be this quick.
The song has now topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, beating Cardi B’s ‘Bodak Yellow’ which had a three week run at number 1. This is the first number 1 song for both Post and 21 Savage. The former’s best before this was ‘Congratulations’ which peaked at number 8. In the week of its release, ‘Rockstar’ had broken Apple Music’s first week streaming numbers record and debuted at #2 on the Hot 100 chart.
Post’s audience is very diverse and that is surely helping him achieve this much success. Billboard reports that post ‘Rockstar’, five of the 10 songs to ascend to No. 1 on the Hot 100 this year have been rap songs, tying for the most in any year. ‘Rockstar’ serves as the first single off Post Malone’s forthcoming sophomore album Beerbongs & Bentleys.
As we reported earlier this month, Post’s label Republic Records is also pushing ‘I Fall Apart’ as a single after a clip of his live performance went viral on social media.
