Kyrie Irving issued an apology to former girlfriend Kehlani, more than two years after the former couple called off their relationship.
Kehlani was hospitalized after a suicide attempt in March, 2016 following a PARTYNEXTDOOR Instagram post featuring the couple in bed together. The singer was believed to be cheating on Irving at the time with PND. But Kehlani had shut down the talk. “Don’t believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person,” wrote Kehlani, adding, “I am severely utterly in love with my first love [PND]. Went thru a bad breakup and ended up easing into a relationship with a man who was one of my best friend[s].” Kyrie had denied he was dating Kehlani at that time as well.
Now in an extensive Instagram post, the Boston Celtics star explains his side of the story and claims that Kehlani wasn’t at any fault. “She did not cheat or intentionally hurt me, she actually did something extremely noble & respectful,” he wrote. He ended the post with the following hashtags: “#WeAreNotDating #Besties #BeenBesties #NeverStoppedNeverWell,” signalling that they are not dating and remain to be friends. Check out his post below.

The lack of understanding of what we went through has bred a lot of unwarranted things happening and I want my supporters to really let her be the great soul I know she is whole heartedly. I’m hearing people are showing up to shows and being disruptive while she performs and when it starts affecting real life progress, the shit has to stop. I am responsible as a leader to guide the young males who follow me in a positive way, & this is long overdue. We only try our hardest to be great humans and the fact that I can love her for how beautiful she is a privilege in its own right, I’m grateful. I want to see her and all individuals be who they truthfully are, unapologetically.”
