Drake’s latest album Scorpion sold 732k copies in the first week, giving him the biggest week of 2018 by far.
But the way some of the songs from the album are performing at streaming, his run at the number 1 spot will run at least a few weeks. This week, Drake has retained the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart as his latest set moves 335,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 12. 29,000 of those were from pure sales. This takes his total to well past a million in sales.
Scorpion’s 335k tally is also the biggest sophomore week in over two years. Billboard notes that the last set to log a larger second week was Adeleās 25, which earned 1.16 million units in its second week. Drake’s ‘In My Feelings’, which now serves as the official follow up single from the album, is blowing up at everywhere, partly thanks to the #InMyFeelings challenge on social media. That along with the fact that the physical copies hit stores this week could give Drizzy a further boost in the coming weeks.
Yesterday, Drake appeared on Charlie Sloth’s show on BBC 1xtra for a “Fire In The Booth” freestyle.
