John Legend usually only makes music that means something and he’s done it again with his new single ‘Preach’.
The powerful song and its music video encourages the viewer to get up and make a change instead of getting disappointed by the horrible news everyday. “Every day I wake and Everything is broken / Turning off my phone just to get out of bed / Get home every evening And history’s repeating / Turning off my phone cuz it’s hurting my chest,” sings John on the mid tempo song.
“The idea behind the song is that sometimes we can get so frustrated by the news and what’s going on and there’s this scatter going on in ourselves. Do we become apathetic? Do we become engaged? Do we just talk about it, or do we do something?” John says about the record. The video was directed by Dominique DeLeon and is the first of its kind to use YouTube’s donate/fundraising feature in which viewers will be able to donate to Free America.
