Scarface offered an update on his COVID-19 situation on Saturday after revealing last month that he had tested positive.
The Houston native has been quarantined for several weeks in his house with no physical contact outside. He first experienced symptoms like a lack of taste and smell and talked about it in an Instagram Live interview with Ludacris. “I ain’t never felt like this. vulnerable,” he said. “For the first time in my life, I feel like I was not in control of what was about to happen.”
Now in a Zoom chat with fellow Geto Boys member, Willie D, the legendary rapper says that he felt he was inches away from death and is on dialysis due to kidney failure, following complications from COVID-19. “I’m glad to be alive,” Scarface admitted. “I fought COVID double bilateral pneumonia — both lungs — and kidney failure in my house,” he explained. “I went back to the hospital. I just got out of the hospital Monday.”
“I gotta change my entire diet, I gotta do dialysis four days a week, three hours a day. That’s taking all my blood out, cleaning it and putting it back in my body,” explained Scarface, telling Willie that he did not have any kidney issues before testing positive for Coronavirus.
He also described some of the symptoms while fighting the virus: “I couldn’t keep food down, I couldn’t get comfortable, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t stay woke, I could not breathe. It was the worst time of my life.” He added that he lost about 30 pounds. “Hanging on that string of death makes you really appreciate life,” Scarface said. “I was inches away from death.”
