After a tease a couple of days ago, J.I.D has shared his new song and music video ‘Skegee’ today.
The song’s title is derived from Tuskegee, and on the song, he raps about the history of both the city and its historically black university. The Dreamville rapper draws parallels between his life and the historic events, most particularly the infamous and inhumane Tuskegee Experiment.

“Rap game turned from the slingers to the fiends / But I’m in between, I mean / ain’t pickin’ teams, but I had a dream like King,” he raps on the soulful record which also features words from the former mayor of Tuskegee, Ronald D. Williams. JID travels to Tuskegee to shoot the video in honor of black history month. Watch it below. Last month, he teased the title of his next project: The Forever Story.
