Another week, another edition of Saturday Spotlight where we attempt to shine some light on artists on the rise who may not necessarily be on your radar. We have received over 725 artist submissions this year alone and we’re pleased to say that the quality has been up to par.
Without further ado, let’s get into today’s picks, Brandy Haze and E Bleu. Remember that all upcoming artists can submit music to us for Saturday Spotlight on this link.
First up we have Brandy Haze who is originally from Chino Hills, California and specializes in R&B with a hint of urban/trap music. After graduating from Spelman College in Atlanta, the singer made her way to New York where she was working as a full-time marketing analyst. But the desire to sing and perform kept growing and she eventually decided to pursue music full time. She recently released her new project Silhouette and below is one of our favorites from it, ‘Ashes’.
Next up we have another artist on the come up by the name of E Bleu who is ending his year long hiatus with the DeVan “D1″ Hooker produced track ‘3AM’. E came up in the game as a teen in a duo along with Kevin Abstract, the lead singer/songwriter of Brockhampton. The smooth tune with a Summer vibe certainly caught our attention.
“I’ve always been a night owl. The energy at night is just different to me. I remember being in an Uber on the way home just mentally re capping the night and feeling like it’s somehow a pattern I fall into every night. I got home and recorded it in like 15 min on my kitchen counter at 3AM,” he says about the drop. Listen below.
Through our artist discovery platform Saturday Spotlight, we have discovered some amazing talent in the past including Russ, Ty Dolla Sign, Mez, IDK, Victoria Monét and Trap Beckham to name just a few. In most cases, coverage on HHNM was their first look among media outlets. Find the submission guidelines here.
