In a surprise announcement that has come out of nowhere, Kendrick Lamar has revealed that he’s working on his final album on TDE.
“As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling,” K.Dot said in a note posted on the site oklama.com.
The full note is posted below:
“I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts. Writing. Listening. And collecting old Beach cruisers. The morning rides keep me on a hill of silence.
I go months without a phone.
Love, loss, and grief have disturbed my comfort zone, but the glimmers of God speak through my music and family.
While the world around me evolves, I reflect on what matters the most. The life in which my words will land next.
As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.
There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.
Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all.
See you soon enough.

Kendrick has not released an album since DAMN in 2017 and fans had been waiting for some kind of update from the superstar rapper. Back in March 2020, Kendrick launched his own multi service company called pgLang along with longtime friend and collaborator, Dave Free and there were rumors that he might be leaving Top Dawg Entertainment where he has been signed for about 17 years.
In October, Kendrick signed an exclusive, global administration agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG). He is set to headline the Day N Vegas festival along with Travis Scott and Tyler, The Creator in November in Las Vegas.
UPDATE: Top Dawg has released a statement as well.
