Kanye West will now be officially able to change his name to just “Ye.”
Back in August, it was reported that Kanye had filed documents in court requesting the judge to change his official name from Kanye Omari West to the moniker he’s been going with for a while. A Los Angeles judge Monday approved a petition by the rapper to officially change his name to just “Ye” with no middle or last name.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams Court gave her nod to the request by the rap star, who filed his petition Aug. 24 and stated he was making the change for “personal reasons.”

Kanye also celebrated the new name with a fresh haircut and a special symbol in the caption. In an interview with Big Boy last year, he said that he believes “ye” is “the most commonly used word in the Bible, and said in the Bible it means ‘you.’”
