The Fugees have canceled their reunion tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1996 classic, The Score. Read the statement below.
A seven-date North American was supposed to run starting November 2nd at the United Center in Chicago and wrap November 28th at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C before making stops in L.A., Atlanta, Miami and Newark. In December, the Fugees were to play shows in Paris, London, Nigeria, and Ghana. The dates for Nigeria and Ghana are TBA at the moment. The dates were later postponed but jokes were flying that the tour will eventually get canceled.
The note cites the Covid-19 pandemic as the main reason for not going ahead with the planned tour. It also expresses gratitude for the reunion show the group performed in New York last September, the day after announcing their tour. “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe. An idea sparked to honor and celebrate this 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work,” it reads.
