A special memorial day VERZUZ battle took place between UGK and 8Ball & MJG on Thursday night live from Atlanta.
This specific battle had been in discussion for a long time but fans were finally happy to see an official announcement earlier this week. The two groups dominated Southern Hip-Hop around the same era so it was a perfect matchup to see who really had the streets talking. Although Pimp C tragically died back in 2007, his presence was certainly felt through the speakers.
8Ball & MJG came to the battle with songs like ‘9 Little Milimeta Boys’, ‘Comin’ Out Hard’, ‘We Started This’, ‘Just Like Candy’, ‘Forever’ with Lloyd, ‘Paid Dues’ with CeeLo Green, ‘Tell The DJ Bring It Back’ with Young Dro, ‘Sho Nuff’, ‘My Homeboy’s Girlfriend’, ‘Middle of the Night Remix’, ‘Relax And Take Notes’, ‘Space Age Pimpin’, ‘Pimp Hard’, ‘Mr. Big’, ‘Friend or Foe’, ‘Don’t Make Me’ and more.
UGK (Bun B) countered with ‘Tell Me Something Good’, ‘Pocket Full of Stones’, ‘Choppin’ Blades’, ‘Front, Back, Side to Side’, ‘Wood Wheel’, ‘Hi Life’, ‘Take It Off’, ‘Three Sixteens’, ‘The Game Belongs To Me’, ‘Murder’, ‘Big Pimpin’ with Jay-Z, ‘Let Me See It’, ‘Return’, ‘Akickdoe!’, ‘Diamonds & Wood’, ‘Knocking Doors Down’, ‘One Day’ and ‘Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You)’ among others.
It looks like the audience picked the underground kings as the winner of this battle. In case you missed the live stream, you can watch the full replay of UGK vs. 8Ball & MJG VERZUZ below or on this link. TIDAL has curated a playlist of all the songs played — peep it here.
