The shift to streaming in the music industry for the best part of the last decade has been a positive one for many people, but one of the main criticisms of it is that artists’ classic mixtapes can’t make it on digital streaming platforms due to samples and beats not being cleared.
Several artists have gone out of their way to clear old tapes for streaming though, Lil Wayne being one of them. His Sorry 4 The Wait tape and a shorter version ofNo Ceilings have gone up on streaming and now, we have news about another classic Wayne tape hitting streaming.
In his new sit-down interview on the Rap Radar Podcast, DJ Drama reveals that Dedication 2 is going to make it onto DSPs at some point later this year. “We are dropping Dedication 2 on streaming platforms this year and it’s gonna have some new music along with it, that’s pretty exciting” he said. This probably means that the tape will have some new songs on it, but perhaps it’ll happen around the release of a Dedication 7.
