As we approach the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop on August 11th, we’re beginning to see more and more announcements of events and other activations to celebrate the big day.
Today, Hot 97 in partnership with WBLS has announced a concert to celebrate the 50th birthday of the influential genre, taking place on Sept. 15th at Madison Square Garden in New York. Headlining the one day event will be Wu-Tang Clan with additional performances from Mary J. Blige, EPMD, Tyrese and Sean Paul.
Veteran DJ Funk Flex will be curating the event with special appearances from Mariah Carey and Maxwell. Pre-sale tickets to the concert are available now with the general sale starting Friday, June 16 — buy here.
Last week, Mass Appeal along with Live Nation announced their Hip Hop 50 concert at the birthplace of the genre at Yankee Stadium for August 11th with performances from Run DMC, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, T.I., Lupe Fiasco and more.
