Offset Embraces Bachelorhood on Valentine’s Day Release, ‘ten’: Listen

Offset, Atlanta origin rapper and sound-shaper extraordinaire, unabashedly embraces singlehood on Valentine’s Day with a bachelor’s anthem titled, ‘ten.’ The track is a cold statement of resignation to self love and pursuit of wealth, over being with a significant other. In the track, Offset talks about how the loss of a relationship isn’t his loss — that she “gon’ have to f**k ’bout ten more n***s to get over” him.

The track opens with a statement rejecting toxicity and wanting peace. Offset raps, “She bad, but she bad for a n***a too,” indicating how he’s in a state of mind where protecting his mental peace is a priority. The second, of course, is chasing money.

On the refrain, Offset admits to being in love, but also endeavours to fill lost love with money, saying, “I don’t need you, I got money / I don’t miss you, I got money / Love you, but not like money.” This is partly why fans suspect that the track is in fact for rapper Cardi B, who had a serious (and official) relationship with Offset. You can listen to the track below!

From a production standpoint, the sonics are a meshing together of UK Dancehall and Trap and weave the perfect mood of indifference, regret and moving on — all while awakening a desire to dance along. The contrast works well for Offset, who has been releasing music readily.

Previously, the rapper also appeared on a legendary posthumous collaboration with Juice WRLD, on a track called ‘Celebrations,’ which was a reminder of Juice’s legacy as a new-age rapper and the collaborations that could have been. Aside from the Juice collaboration, the rapper also shined on his solo single, ‘Swing My Way,’ earning high praise from The Source, among others.
