With pop in one hand and hip hop in the other, Doja Cat has returned with a fresh project to bless fans that have been itching to hear an album. Her fifth studio album, vie, is out now, and cleverly plays off the Roman ‘V’ for ‘5.’
But Doja is more meticulous than that; after all, vie also refers to life itself — which perfectly captures Doja’s latest sonic celebration. In it, Doja thoroughly embraces the 80s sound, paying homage to its nooks and crannies while barring up (as she does).

The project also boasts a SZA feature — who is an artist Doja was just recently admiring on social media site, X. Not only did Doja enlist someone who is adept at singing as much as songwriting, she herself explodes new terrain with improved vocal ability.
Of course, this is something Doja is already aware of, and has spoken about how she pushed herself technically on the project — tapping into riffs and runs she hasn’t explored previously. Check out the album to catch a vibe!
