Skylar Grey, who is jointly signed to producer Alex Da Kid’s KIDinaKORNER imprint and Interscope Records is readying the release of her debut album Don’t Look Down, which will be executive produced by Eminem.
The singer/songwriter, who was earlier known as Holly Brook was introduced to Eminem through Alex Da Kid and ended up wiring the smash hit ‘Love The Way You Lie’ and later also did the hook duties on Dr. Dre & Eminem’s single ‘I Need A Doctor’.
The first single from her debut album will be titled ‘C’Mon Let Me Ride’ and will have Eminem singing/covering Queen’s hook from their song ‘Bicycle Race‘. The photo posted above is from the video shoot for the single. Skylar tells Rollingstone:
“That was an Eminem move. The first time I heard his verse, he had added that part in as well and it made me laugh, so we kept it. I love hearing Marshall change his voice like that and just, like, be a character, play a character, so I thought that was funnier, personally.”
Eminem, too has praise for the talented singer:
“When I was working on Recovery, I was introduced to Skylar by Alex Da Kid and I was blown away with her talent as both a songwriter and vocalis. This album is really going to give her a chance to connect with the fans who probably know her music but might not know her yet. I think they will be as impressed as I am.”
