The numbers you all have been waiting for are here.
Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly which released a week in advance of the original date (March 23) is expected to sell 350-375k copies in the first week (300-325k sales only). HDD notes that these are early numbers which are expected to grow since the physical copies of the album are only arriving now in stores (although we think the early release was all planned). The album had earlier broken Spotify’s all time streaming record.
These numbers don’t come close to Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late sales last month but still a substantial increase from his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d City which had moved 242k copies in the first week.
