After the huge success of their New Edition biopic (watch here), BET is now exploring the option of similar series on Nas’ life.
The channel has greenlit the pilot of Street Dreams, a 1990s scripted series based on the life of the New York rapper, reports Deadline. ‘Street Dreams’, which is named after Nas’ breakout 1996 hit song, was originally set to be produced by XBox Entertainment Studios. That production house is now defunct.
The story will track Nas’ rise from young man in Queensbridge projects to becoming one of the most respected musicians. It is being executive produced by Nas himself, while Rush creator Jonathan Levine wrote the script and will also direct the pilot.
