Juice WRLD ‘Legends Never Die’ First Week Sales (Update)

UPDATE 2 (July 17): The album has moved 508k copies in the first week, giving Juice the biggest first week total of the year so far. It sold 210k pure copies and earned 390m streams, making it also the largest streaming week of 2020.

UPDATE (July 13): The projections for the album have gone up. It is now expected to move 450-470k copies in the first week which should give it the biggest opening week of the year, ahead of The Weeknd’s After Hours (444k). About 140k or so are expected to come from pure sales, mainly thanks to strong D2C on his website.

Previous story (July 11):

Juice WRLD is a rage among the younger generation and his untimely death certainly affected a lot of them, a case similar to XXXTentacion.

The rapper-singer’s first posthumous album Legends Never Die was released on Friday to much fanfare. The album has earned the biggest first day streams on Spotify, amassing a whopping 74.6 million streams, ahead of previous albums from The Weeknd, Eminem, Bad Bunny and more. On the single side, his song ‘Conversations’ has earned the biggest first day streams for 2020 (3.4 million).

Right around the time of album’s release, Spotify faced an outage and Juice’s fans were quick to attribute it to heavy streaming of his album.

With streaming figures like that, it was expected that the album would have a huge overall first week projection. HDD reports that the Chicago artist’s project is expected to move 400-440k copies in the first week with about 110-125k coming from pure sales. This would, of course, put the album comfortably on number 1 of Billboard 200 next week. This also has the capability of challenging The Weeknd After Hours total which has the distinction of the biggest first week of this year so far (444k).

The Grade A/Interscope set features guest appearances from Trippie Redd, Polo G, Halsey, Marshmello and more.
