It is quite crazy to think that we went almost a decade without an album from Jay Electronica but in 2020, we got to hear two projects from the man.
Earlier this month, the entire copy of his mythical album Act II: Patents Of Nobility was leaked online after a hacker got his hands on it and sold it to a few listeners, reportedly for a price of $9000. Soon after, the rapper decided to officially release the album on TIDAL, which was the exact version as heard on the leak.
Lately, Jay Elect has been active on his Discord and late last night (Friday), he decided to share a new song with fans there called ‘Ruff Sketches’. Jay mentioned that it is a track that did not make the cut on his last album A Written Testimony (with Jay-Z). “After sharing this on our discord server, the good ppl over there decided i should share it period. click the link in bio to join us,” he said about the drop on Instagram.
“No diss to Yeezy but I promised to my momma, I’m going Dolly with the llama if I ever make it on the TV / I emerged from the darkness like Jesus out of the tomb / My skin clothing sin like Jesus out of the womb,” he raps on the mellow instrumental which is mainly made of keys. Listen below.
